Origin
The concept of Dual Track was first mentioned in 2005 by Lynn Miller, with further elaboration by Desirée Sy in 2007, and formalized as 'Dual-Track Agile' by Marty Cagan and Jeff Patton in 2012.
Discovery
During the upstream phase, a part of the team, generally including the Product Owner and team members with User Experience (UX) roles, focuses on understanding user needs, prototyping, and testing solutions before proceeding with development.
Execution
During the downstream, developers materialize the ideas from discovery into product increments.
Synchronization
Both tracks work in parallel, aiming to synchronize their efforts to ensure a sustainable and efficient workflow.
